From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, demons, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will split off from the primary party to begin their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group features Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the events of the third episode show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise started the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as key figures in House Halovar could assist the party access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Explorers and Planners groups.
Fans can anticipate discovering which characters will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
